General Information

The Arizona Gay Rodeo Association is excited to bring rodeo back to Arizona after a one-year absence. The Arizona Gay Rodeo will be February 18-20, 2022 at the Corona Ranch and Rodeo Grounds – 7811 S 29th Ave – Laveen (Phoenix), Arizona. The venue is located on the southeast corner of S 29th Avenue and West Baseline Road. The rodeo is an IGRA-sanctioned rodeo, and all 2022 IGRA Rules apply. Pets are not allowed on the rodeo grounds or in the pavilion; only service animals are allowed.

Start time for the rodeo is 10:00 am Saturday-February 19 and Sunday-February 20. The ticket office and gate to the venue will open at 9:00 am each day. The awards ceremony will be at 8:00 pm Sunday-February 20. 

A complimentary shuttle will be provided from the host hotel to and from the rodeo grounds and will operate on a pre-determined schedule. See the schedule under the “shuttle service” link.

Rodeo events include: Bull Riding, Steer Riding, Chute Dogging, Calf Roping on Foot, Mounted Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Flag Race, Team Roping, Steer Decorating, Wild Drag Race, and Goat Dressing. 

A full-service bar will be open in the pavilion at 4:00 pm Friday and 10:00 am Saturday and Sunday.

“Games on the Green” (a variety of games for kids and adults) will take place on the grass outside the pavilion from noon until 4:00 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Grand Entry will take place Saturday and Sunday approximately at 1:00 pm each day.

New for 2022: The International Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA) Royalty Competition will be held during rodeo weekend – beginning with the Western Wear/Public Presentation competition segments at Charlie’s at 7:00 pm Thursday – February 17 – and continuing in the rodeo venue pavilion Friday and Saturday evenings.  The full schedule can be found under the “weekend schedule” link.

Parking

There is a $5.00 parking fee per vehicle each day beginning at 4:00 pm Friday and 8:00 am Saturday and Sunday. This fee is charged by the venue and is totally out of AGRA’s control.

Tickets

Rodeo admission is $15.00 each day – Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are for individual days, and discounted weekend tickets are not available. Tickets may be purchased on line or at the ticket booth on the rodeo grounds. Deadline to purchase on-line tickets is midnight Arizona Time February 13, 2022.

Host Hotel

The host hotel is the GreenTree Hotel Phoenix West (formerly Holiday Inn Phoenix West) at 1500 N 51st Avenue in Phoenix. The hotel is on the west side of N 51st Avenue just north of I-10. Room rates, reservation links, and detailed information are available under the “host hotel” link. The rodeo venue is approximately 8.9 miles from the hotel.

Shuttle Service

Complimentary shuttle service will be available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from the host hotel to the rodeo venue and return on a pre-determined schedule. The schedule is available under the “shuttle service” link.

Vendor spaces are available both inside the pavilion and on the outside patio. Vendor information and application can be found under the “vendors” link.

Party Buses

Party buses will run from Charlie’s to the rodeo grounds and return to Charlie’s Saturday and Sunday on a pre-determined schedule. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Information is available under the “party buses” link.

RV Park

A RV Park, with a limited number of spaces, is on the west side of S 29th Avenue – across from the rodeo venue parking lot.  Information is available under the “RV Park” link.
